Thank you so much for all the wonderful people who came out, braved the rain, and made our Halloween party this weekend truly Spooktacular! We had such a wonderful time, and are already dreaming up the next event.

ShilohDesigns are unique, one of a kind items made by Amanda right here at Shiloh Farm in Redding, CA. Some things you'll find in her shop include, scarves, hats, crocheted flower hair clips, fingerless gloves (my all time favorite) and a whole bunch of delicious homespun/hand dyed yarns.

Wood U Play
Robert and Karen McEwen make all types of wooden games and some toys and decorations. They have been in this business for 20 years, moving to the Redding area 2 years ago, and learning their way around the handmade community.

The Green Mum
As a stay at home mom, Zizi, the woman behind the Green Mum wanted an outlet to create at home. Colorful cabochon jewelry was her answer. The jewelry is fun and easy on the wallet. Zizi also creates crochet handmade goods for you and your home.

His focus is on creating all natural sugar scrubs using delicious ingredients so good that you could eat them. A day at the Pumpkin Patch

This weekend at the Halloween Party, we will be doing pumpkin decorating which is going to be super fun! We can not wait to see what everyone comes up with.

Naturally we needed to go grab some pumpkins, and decided to visit Nash Ranch. It was a beautiful day, and the farm was filled with lots of families, and tons of pumpkins.

We stocked up on the most adorable baby pumpkins, and a couple large ones as well.

Then it was back to our workshop (The Fabulous Fabric Shop) to start making some samples. Are these not the cutest things ever?

Fresh out of a fantastic planning session for this weekends Oh!Carousel Halloween Carnival Party, and boy are we excited! A few of you may have noticed that this weekend comes with a slight chance of rain. But fear not, the party will go on!

We will be stretched out in front of The Fabulous Fabric Shop under the over sized awning, with a few tents set up as well. So feel free to wear your favorite witch hat, there is no chance of melting here!

Warm up with a delicious cup of Hot Chocolate or Apple Cider while you get your craft on at our various crafty stations.

Play some games, get your face painted, and do some shopping before slipping inside to The Fabulous Fabric Shop. Make your own caramel apple, spin our prize wheel, and enjoy a 40% off sale inside the shop...a perfect chance to get some last minute fabric for the perfect Halloween costume!

We have quite a night of crafty fun, handmade shopping, pampering, sweet treats and yummy eats planned!

We will be having a little party at The Antique Cottage & Garden located in Shasta Lake. The project of the day will be fabric covered light plates, a simple project that will instantly add extra style to your home.

In between crafty fun, munch on tasty treats from Sweetspot, shop from our handmade vendors, and enjoy a little pampering from Faccia Bella who will be offering $5 Pomegranate Apple Manicures.

Lavender Sugar Scrub from the Spa Party

Thank you to everyone who came out for a fun night of pampering at Amazin' Nails last Thursday.

Our DIY project during the event was a yummy Lavender sugar scrub that was quite a hit. This stuff smells amazing, but is also pretty simple to make. So, if you missed it, or would just like some more, here is the recipe!

1 cup sugar
1/2 cup olive oil or any nut oil (grapeseed or coconut)
2 teaspoons of lavender
Zest from 1 lemon

Directions: Combine Oil with Lavender. You can infuse the oil with the lavender ahead of time if you would like, but it is not necessary. Combine sugar, and lemon zest and mix together with any left over lavender. Pour oil into sugar mixture and stir until completely mixed and they are no pockets of dry sugar. Bottle up and enjoy!

Our Spa party is this Thursday night! We are excited for a night of pampering and relaxation! Come enjoy an express pedicure and learn how to make your own lavender lemon sugar scrub. We made up a sample for the craft party at Sweetspot last Friday and it smells like a little piece of paradise.

Tickets are $20, and we do request that you buy them in advance so that we bring enough goodies for everyone. You can get tickets here on the blog, or in person at The Fabulous Fabric Shop, Sweetspot, or Amazin Nails. We have three sessions to choose from, 5-6, 6-7, and 7-8.

Craft Buffet Brushup

Curious about what all this craft buffet business is about? Well pull up a chair and let us tell you all about it!

The craft buffet is a fantastic excuse to clean out your craft supplies of all the goods that are not pulling your creative strings, and trade them in for new supplies, at least t you.

Before letting go of your stuff, you'll have your items tallied as to how many credits you get. Big items, 2 credits. Small items, one credit. Then we will eat a bit, chat a bit, and peruse the pile, as each person takes turns picking out their new supplies.

Bring as many or as few items as you want. The price of the ticket gets you in for the event, light dinner faire, and something lovely to drink.

Think of it as some creative entertainment, the possibility of new inspiration (maybe grab stuff from a medium you've always wanted to try), and good conversation.

Fabric into Fashion Show Recap

Thank you to everyone who made it out for the very special event that we had last night. We are so proud that we have had the opportunity to showcase the vibrant and creative talent that exists here in Redding. We had a great turnout, and the event was a blast!

We hope to see you at our next events, speaking of which, this Thursday August 12th. We are having a Craft Buffet. What is that you ask? It is a perfect way to come trade in your unused craft supplies for new (at least to you) supplies. Our last Craft Buffet was a total blast, and everyone walked away with new supplies, and an infusion of creativity.

Tickets for the event are $10 and include drinks, light dinner, a chance to recycle unwanted craft supplies, and an overall festive night out.

Fabric Into Fashion

Our next event is the Fabric Into Fashion show outside of The Fabulous Fabric Shop on August 6th from 7-9pm. We'll have, as always, a fun crafty project, a handmade designer boutique, and yummy things to eat and drink for sale. Admission to the show is free.

And, the best part is that this event is totally family friendly! The show will include fashion for baby, children's wear, accessories, and adult. I love the fact that some of the children are actually modeling their own works of art that they made during the shop's sewing class.

This month's Sweet DIY project

Have you already secured your tickets for this month's Sweet DIY Craft Party? If not, you'll be missing out on another great do-it-yourself project that the Oh!Carousel gals developed just for this occasion.

This month is foofy headband month! You'll have a general base of stretchy headband material to start with. But, be thinking about how you want to foof it up to make it glamorous, exotic, or playful.

What is a Sweet DIY Craft Party? Consider it a healthy serving of creative atmosphere, a dash of tasty treats for the tummy, and a big ole cup of stretching your imagination to wash it all down!

We provide the general idea or project theme. But you get to have all the fun while you design the details, figure out how it all goes together, and actually construct your creation. Then, at the end of the evening, we snap a photo of your work of art and you get to take home something you probably wouldn't have ever tried making at home.

Oh, and the best part is we clean up the mess for you! So, we'll see you Thursday, hmmmm?

Sweet DIY

The Sweet DIY is a Do-It-Yourself Class where you get to learn something, make a project, and then take it home that same day. This Thursday evening, we are hosting a class at The Fabulous Fabric Shop in Shasta Center complete with champagne punch and delectable desserts from Sweetspot.

The project will be wine charms and coasters made of chalk cloth. What is chalk cloth, you ask? It is a material that made to be written on and then erased over and over like a chalk board.

The project is just in time and perfect for summertime entertaining. In fact, you could even use your newly made stuff this weekend for that Memorial Day barbecue!

The class goes from 7-8:30pm and costs a total of $15. The class is $10 and then the supplies are $5. If you have already purchased your ticket but not your supplies, please bring cash the evening of the event. There are a few seats still available. Get yours now!

PS: This is an easy project that would be great for moms and daughters or best friends that just need some quality time together!

First Pedi Party

We had such a wonderful, glamorous time at our first Pedi Party last night. The people were refreshing. The food was, as always, fantastic. The shopping was unique. And our hosts were exceedingly accommodating. We will SO be doing this again!

Our last event for May, the Sweet DIY, is going to be absolutely SMASHING! Essentially, it is a do-it-yourself class where you'll take home a finished product at the end of the night. As a perk, there will be champagne and cupcakes from Sweetspot.

During the class, you will learn about a special fabric that is both whimsical and practical. We will employ said fabric to create a table setting component that is ideal for summertime entertaining.

Tickets to the event are $10 and supplies are $5. So, for $15 you get an evening of enjoyment, delectable treats, and a finished product. Event goes from 7pm-8:30pm and will take place at The Fabulous Fabric Shop on Churn Creek. Oh, I forgot to mention that you also get the know-how for when you're feeling crafty later.

And, for the record, there are no rules when it comes to DIY!

The Craft Buffet Recap

Thanks to all that made it out to the Craft Buffet! It was such a good time. We had a modest turnout, but you wouldn't know it by looking at ALL the stuff that was laid out on the tables. There was so much that we couldn't even take it all home with us. We actually stashed what was left for the next time.

Hopefully, we'll be posting some finished products consisting of Craft Buffet finds. Be on the lookout for that. Hey, what do you think? Maybe we should have a contest. Yes, let's do that.

Everyone that attended the first Craft Buffet, listen up! You have a chance to win a ticket to the next Buffet. The only guideline is that the finished product must be comprised of at least 50% of traded materials. We'll post the submissions in 2 weeks. Then, we will all vote and announce the winner.

How will the Craft Buffet work?

Thinking of attending this Thursday's Craft Buffet but just not sure you get it? Here's how its gonna work.

You are going to attend the event with a bunch of stuff you don't want (all of which is creative or artsy or crafty in nature). Before letting go of your stuff, you'll have your items tallied as to how many credits you get. Big items, 2 credits. Small items, one credit. Then, we'll chat and have a bit to eat. When that's done and after we've all sort of had time to peruse the pile a bit, we'll take turns picking an item. Once everyone has chosen, we'll give the opportunity to trade among each other if you see something better in someone else's hands. They can accept your offer or politely decline.

Bring as many or as few items as you want. That will determine how many credits you get. It is an opportunity to get rid of stuff that has been gathering dust. But, no one pays for stuff during the event. The price of the ticket gets you in for the event, light dinner faire, and something lovely to drink.

Think of it as some creative entertainment, the possibility of new inspiration (maybe grab stuff from a medium you've always wanted to try), and good conversation.

So I just realized that the Facebook "Like" box on the sidebar to the right does not feed over to Oh!Carousel's fan page. Instead, it feeds over to the fan page for Lactose Free Milk. The Craft Buffet

Oh boy, oh boy! The Craft Buffet is coming your way!

Sweetspot, The Fabulous Fabric Shop, and ReddingHandmade have teamed up yet again for the first ever Craft Buffet! On Thursday, May 13th, you and all your crafty pals can trade in old craft supplies and get something new (at least to you!). And not only will we be hosting the swap, but we'll also be serving up some light dinner faire.

What sort of items are game for trading? How about anything that you can make a handmade project out of. Buttons, fabric, vintage findings, beads, paper, tools. If you can create something out of it, it is worthy of being offered up at the Craft Buffet!

There's only one rule of thumb to partake of the Craft Buffet: please judge your stuff in accordance with the types and quality of things you'd like to take home yourself. Because, what goes around, comes around.

Your ticket price will include drinks, light dinner faire, a chance to recycle unwanted craft supplies, and an overall festive night out. Mark your calendar for the 4th Thursday of the month as this is a reoccurring event.

Admission of $10 must be prepaid via Paypal prior to event as we need to know how much food to provide. Payment due date is May 10th, but spaces are very limited...

What is Oh!Carousel?

Oh!Carousel is a collaboration of some completely creative and fairly crafty business owners here in Redding. We all have an intense love of engaging events, new ideas, and innovation.

Our mission is simple. We love to support our local businesses by having as much fun as possible and by using as much spunk as we can muster. We do that by offering local girls' night out events, small business workshops, DIY classes, and shopping experiences. It is our way of connecting people, products, and ideas that wouldn't normally have the opportunity to come together.

The name developed out of our desire to rotate our good ideas and concepts throughout Redding. To us, a carousel evokes thoughts of joy, excitement, and whimsy. We took from that idea and we are making it our own. We are coordinating, and developing concept events that are both fun and creative and we are loving every moment of it!

So, enough about us. Just make a date with a girlfriend on Thursday nights and see what fun we have in store for you!

Events kickoff on Thursday, May 6th with Rotations. ReddingHandmade is cohosting the event at Sweetspot from 7pm to 9pm. Four local handmade designers will be featuring and selling their work. Designers include Chrystalyn, Julie Packer Designs, Oh Baby! Redding, and NCharshaf's Handmade Notebooks & Stationery.
